Landon, 12 month Mini session Phoenix, AZ

Landon, 12 month Mini session Phoenix, AZ

We can't believe the time has finally come that our little buddy is finally 12 months! It came so fast and now it's here and gone! Mr. Landon turned one in November and with the holidays and sickness we finally got around to doing his little photo shoot last month. He has changed so much from his nine month photos, turning from a baby into a little toddler before my eyes! He is still so sweet with his little grin and tender heart.  We have loved getting to know him and his Mama and of course his big brother Nolan. Megan won Nolan's heart when she gave smarties and now she is forever known as  Mrs. Megan the smarties giver :) Nolan is such a big kid he is now 4! When I first met this family Nolan was 2, he looked a lot like little Landon but a little taller. I love getting to know my clients and grow with them while they become friends and family.

We look forward to watching the boys grow up and can't wait to document these precious years where time stands still but races by all at once.  Happy Birthday little man!

Fri-yay!! Weekly Recap #14

Fri-yay!! Weekly Recap #14

What can we say about this week other than it's over and we're sorta glad? We survived sick kids and missed school, but the beginning of another month upon us! So we are saying, goodbye September! Hello October! Nothing against September, but usually by the time it rolls around, we're done with the heat and we're ready for cooler weather and fall family sessions! Not to mention Pumpkin Spice everything. Seriously pumpkin spice has like taken over the internet so we're jumping on the bandwagon y'all (insert James' frowny face here..."Ugh, pumpkin spice is gross")! We are so excited about these next two months. We can't wait to see so many new and old faces and hug all you beautiful people, of our friends told us this week that we aren't "huggers" so it's time to change the gameplan around here and practice our huggin' skills. We'll be ready for hugger prime time come January. You can count on it.

October means...COOLER WEATHER! Hallelujah!  This means breakfast and dinner outside and we are super excited about that! Last May we did a backyard refresh and since then its been hot so we haven't had a chance to really enjoy it. So now that it's nice outside its like we've come out of reverse hibernation! As much as we love swimming and summer, this weather has our hearts all aflutter and is so refreshing! No more vitamin D deficiency around here! Woot woot!

We took the plunge and sent out our first ever newsletter last week and we were blown away at the response! We truly appreciate the heck out of each and every one of our clients and we are so excited to be getting back into the crazy madness of the fall portrait season.

With that said, we have some good news and bad news...which do you want first?! Ok, bad news first. Like we said, we got such an overwhelming response from our last newsletter that our Mini Session dates are completely full! Crazy, right?! Within a week we completely booked all of our available mini session times! Did we mention how awesome our clients are? Sadly, we had to turn some of you away because we just didn't have anymore room!

Now for the good news! We seriously can't disappoint you all. We just love you too much. More than a few of you have asked if we were going to open up any more dates for mini sessions and who are we to say no?! You asked, so we delivered!

We have added just ONE last date for mini sessions to the calendar! This is it people! And we mean it this time! So if you need that extra special Christmas card family photo this year, you better hop to it and set up your mini session ASAP! All of our other mini session dates filled up within a week, so you can expect this final date to fill up in a couple days.

Our final date for mini sessions will be:

Seriously don't wait. These mini session spots won't last long.

And don't forget, if mini sessions aren't your thing, you can always book the super high-end, luxury, personalized, ultra-awesome, deluxe full session experience complete with a super fun Premier Night including cocktails and dessert! Check out our investment page for details!

Have a great weekend! We're off to soccer games, laundry, time with friends, and the start of fall sessions!

What to Wear Wednesday 2nd Edition!

What to Wear Wednesday 2nd Edition!

What to Wear Wednesday is back! This is the second installment of our blog mini series where we help you dress your best without the stress. If you missed the first installment you can find it here. Today we want to talk about coordinating your colors. We've made it our mission to banish the matchy-matchy trend!! Seriously though, the days of khaki or denim pants with all white or black shirts are gone. They have gone the way of fanny packs and shoulder pads. I mean, really. Just don't go there people. So with that said, don’t be afraid to mix it up and add some color! Like we said last week, start with one outfit, dress, or accessory and build around it. If your daughter has a favorite multi-colored dress, pull out colors from it and use them as your guide to pick other complimentary colors.

Here are a few more helpful tips to help you coordinate those colors to make you and your family really pop on camera...

*Choose 2-3 main colors and and maybe throw in 1 other little splash of color to build your outfits.

*Steer clear of fluorescents, as they tend to look strange through the camera. Use primary colors or pastels instead. Blue (navy, royal), gold, Yellow (mustard), red (maroon, brick) or turquoise are great alternatives.

*Keep skin colors in mind. If your family has lighter skin tones they might look better in darker colors like navy or maroon. Darker skin tones tend to look great in lighter colors! Turquoise or another pastel could be your best friend.

*The key to coordinating multiple outfits is not to be too “matchy-matchy.” That’s the technical term, in case you were wondering. ;-) The family below picked purple, off white, and various shades of denim. Every member of their family represents at least a couple of those complimentary colors. No one is wearing the exact same outfit but it totally works! The color really brings out their personalities too. I can tell you these girls are all different and their outfits match them PERFECTLY!

*Be careful when mixing patterns and prints. You do not want the clothes to be too distracting and take away from your beautiful faces!  Avoid shirts with big logos, graphics, characters, or labels. It’s distracting and takes away from the real focus...which is YOU!

*We want to see your families' personality come out in your photos!  So remember no all white or all black! Have we mentioned you should throw in a splash of color?! Color, color, color...ok...we think you get the point...color... ;-) So don't be afraid to change it up and have fun! You'll look great, feel fabulous, and you'll have some amazing photos to show off on your wall!
