Landon 9 months

Landon 9 months

When we started these milestone mini's last November, I remember thinking that it was going to take forever to get to his first birthday. But now I'm shaking my head trying to figure out where this year went and how it can be that in a couple months almost a year has gone by. It seems like just yesterday that we did his 6 month photos and his 3 month photos. I think it's safe to say that this little chunk has a special spot in my heart and I am going to miss him and his Mama when he "graduates" out of my milestone mini sessions! This month I wanted to try something fun and different so we filled up the sink, poured in some bubbles and let him have at it! It was so much fun to watch him, he splashed and tasted and then tried to climb out ;) Happy 9 months little man, I can't wait to watch you smash cake and learn to walk!

Fri-yay! Weekly Recap #11

Fri-yay! Weekly Recap #11

Can we get an Amen for Fall and this amazing weather?! In case you didn't know, we are full-fledged Arizonans nowadays, so as counter-intuitive as it may seem, when the weather dips below triple digits, all of us Arizona kids break out our hoodies and act like it's cold. We know, we know...we sound semi-ridiculous to the rest of the country. But when you're used to sweating from every pore in your entire body for four months straight, it's nice to have a little reprieve and wake up to a morning of mid-sixties temps in September. Granted, we know that by lunch time our pores will start working overtime again and we will feel the cold rush of dollar bills blowing out our air vents as our A/C kicks on...again. But when you wake up and its 66 degrees, it's nice to know that the end of the face-melting heat is in sight and we begin to remember why we moved to this beautiful state in the first place! All that to say, this beautiful weather has knocked us out of our four-month-long heat stroke/coma/hibernation/delirium and we're ready to kick off Fall with another installment of our Fri-yay Weekly Recap!

This week we took a trip to Home Depot because Megan got the urge to decorate something...which just sorta happens sometimes. I think it's in her DNA or something and every once in a while she will start uncontrollably muttering things like "color coordination" or "beautification" or other Pinteresty-type stuff and we will all know it's time to pile into the minivan and head to the big orange home improvement emporium. This week her barely incomprehensible mutterings included the word "succulents." So off we went like Bilbo and the dwarves to the Lonely Mountain of Home Depot in search of a great treasure hoard of succulents. Thankfully we didn't find any dragons along the way, although it is getting close to Halloween in Retail Land so we might have found one if we looked, but we did find loads of succulents to appease Megan's cravings! After living in the Arizona desert for a full 10 years we are here to say we have fully embraced our Arizona home and all the spiny plant life that comes along with it! As we all trekked back home, I think Megan muttered something about wanting to bring that "Arizona swag to our home decor game" or something like that. She says the weirdest things sometimes. Ok ok, she didn't say it like that exactly, but you get the gist. ;-) We think the end result turned out pretty cute and awesome despite the fact that she may or may not speak a little strangely sometimes.

Also this week, we commemorated an important event in our nation's history. This week marked the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on The World Trade Center, The Pentagon, and United Flight 93 in Pennsylvania. We had the honor of photographing an event to honor those who lost their lives during that tragic day and to celebrate our first responders and military service members who put their lives on the line everyday to keep our nation safe. During the event, a replica of the Ground Zero Cross that was found a few days after the attacks at The World Trade Center, was erected and dedicated to remember the tragic events of 15 years ago. We are thankful every single day that we get to live in a country so full of people who are willing to sacrifice so much for our country. It made us stop and reflect on the nature of freedom and how precious it really is. Despite what we may see on the news everyday, we are so grateful to live in this country and we were honored to be asked to photograph such an important event.

Now that Fall is here and the lazy days of summer are over, we are back to blogging our little hearts out! So if you missed the beautiful newborn session we did with baby Dash and his beautiful, amazing family, you can check it out here

Also, in preparation for our busy Fall Family Portrait season, we started a nifty blog post mini series called "What to Wear Wednesday" to give you all some helpful tips on what to wear for your upcoming family portraits!

Happy Fri-yay everyone! Enjoy the cooler weather and have a safe and blessed weekend!

Baby Dash!

Baby Dash!

Do you want to know what we love? Well, we love lots of things...ice cream, cookies, wine, cheesecake (we may or may not have a carb problem)...but now that we've gotten all of our guilty pleasures out of the way, we want to tell you about some other things we really love. Joy. Miracles. New life. Baby smell. Did you realize it has been scientifically proven that new baby smell is addicting? Trust us when we tell you, it is. We read it on the internet, so it must be true, right?!

This is why we love photographing newborns like Dash! We were so happy to meet this little man for the first time and witness what we believe is one of our world's most amazing miracles. When a child is born we get to be a part of something truly astounding. As photographers, our main goal is to capture the beautiful moments and when a new life is created and brought into the world, we can't think of anything more beautiful..

Dash was a champ during his first ever photo session! He was so comfortable snuggling his gorgeous mom and dad. He even got to chill out with his two older brothers and is started learning how to be "one of the guys."

He was brought into a home full of joy, life, love, caring, and compassion. We know he is loved more than he will ever know and he will grow up to be one amazing little guy! Welcome to the world Dash!
